Catania 1 – 2 Sampdoria

Sampdoria kick started their season with a hard fought victory away to Catania.

Sampdoria got off to a flyer with Pazzini opening the scoring on the 8th minute, Cassano sent in a low cross for Pazzini to tap in. Catania nearly equalised soon after, Delvecchio sent Giuseppe Mascara through on goal but Castellazzi pulled off a fine save to stop Mascaras attempted lob.

Catania eventually equalised on the 38th minute with Morimoto beating the offside trap and slotted past Castellazzi. The sides went in at half time with scores even.

On the 73rd minute Augustyn pulled down Cassano for a second bookable offence and was sent off. Castellazzi pulled off a fine save soon after from a corner that went straight into the goal area.

Samp went on to snatch the victory in stoppage time as Gastaldello powered in a header from a corner.
